Garden of the Month Criteria Used
The judges look for well maintained lawns, (grass cut, edged and free from
leaves/debris), flower beds free of weeds and plants that have expired, fresh
mulch or turned soil in flowerbeds to give it a fresh look, a variety of plants
or unique design of the landscaping as well as trimmed bushes/hedges. Annuals
and/or color in the landscaping is a plus but not required. Under normal
conditions, judging will take place the first week of each month. Having more
than one judge insures everyone a chance of winning. The judges do not see one
another’s lists. I compile their selections with my own selections. An address
selected more than once is an instant winner. From there I select from each
judge’s list until four winners are determined.
